GRUBSTAK is owned by a local family and operated by a couple of local guys who have a passion for food and customer service. Our owner, Colton Grubb, (which may or may not be where our GRUBSTAK name originated) is a third-generation Arizonan and businessman. The grandson of Valley automotive icon Lou Grubb and son of entrepreneur and partner Dan Grubb, the family tradition of commitment to integrity and community continues with Colton.
With $27 in his pocket and a dream to make a life in Arizona, Lou Grubb boarded a train in 1945 from Long Island and never looked back. With hard work and dedication to his customers, he created one of the most recognizable and, more importantly, most trusted businesses in Phoenix. In the process, Lou conceived Take 5, his five-minute long radio spots for Lou Grubb Chevrolet, which were more about sharing stories, philosophies and beliefs than they were about selling cars. Take 5 resonated with Valley residents and endeared him to the community. Lou’s love for his work and his customers was effortlessly passed down to his son Dan and now, to Colton. GRUBSTAK is honored to carry on the Grubb Family tradition.
Colton’s grandfather was a proud potato farmer back in New York. Fast-forward a few decades and here’s Colton creating a restaurant featuring waffle fries. Coincidence?
